Phoenix – September 22, 2021 – Competitive Carriers Association (CCA) today
announced the winners of its 2021 Annual Achievement Awards honoring individuals, carriers, and associates for their commitment to their community and contributions to the wireless industry. This year’s award categories include Outstanding Achievement, Neko Hamlett Associate Member of the Year, Outstanding Service, and Industry Innovation.
“Each year the CCA Annual Achievement Awards honors the efforts of our members who have made extraordinary contributions to the wireless industry and demonstrated exceptional service and dedication to their communities,” said Steven K. Outstanding Achievement Award
Brent Groome, HTC
Brent Groome retired earlier this year after 30 years of dedicated service to HTC and the telecommunications industry. He served on CCA’s Board of Directors and provided thoughtful insight from the small carrier perspective and regularly attended and supported CCA events.
Neko Hamlett Associate Member of the Year Award
Mark Harms, Award Solutions
Mark Harms hit the ground running last year when he took over the training course partnership with CCA. He’s been instrumental in leading the Foundations in 5G and Foundations in VoLTE courses and moderated numerous sessions over the past few years garnering positive reviews from the audience.
Outstanding Service Award – Two Carrier Winners
GCI
Each year, “GCI Gives” provides $2 million in cash, grants, scholarships, and products to support more than 150 nonprofit organizations in Alaska. Over the past five years “GCI Gives” has donated $500K to support suicide prevention. GCI provides each employee with 16 hours of paid time to donate their support to a nonprofit of their choice.
Nsight – Cellcom
Cellcom’s commitment to community service in 2020 included contributions to 504 unique programs, projects, and initiatives. Highlights include a cell phone recycling program that directed proceeds to programs that help the environment; scholarships to more than 20 high school students; funding projects with Habitat for Humanity and the YMCA Full Circle Program; and more.
Industry Innovation Award
U.S. Cellular (Carrier) and Ericsson (Associate) This spring, U.S. Cellular, Ericsson, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., and Inseego worked together in Janesville, Wisconsin to successfully achieve a 5G extended-range milestone over mmWave on a commercial network. These results were achieved on U.S. Cellular’s commercial network by applying Ericsson’s extended-range functionality to their Antenna Integrated Radio 5322 advanced antenna system, along with an Inseego Wavemaker™ 5G outdoor CPE FW2010 powered by the Qualcomm 5G Fixed Wireless Access Platform gen 1 featuring Qualcomm Snapdragon™ X55 5G Modem-RF System and a Qualcomm QTM527 mmWave antenna module.
